NIBSS and CAC Launch API Integration Platform to Streamline Business Services and Enhance Data Verification

The Nigeria Inter-Bank Settlement System (NIBSS), in collaboration with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), has officially launched a groundbreaking Application Programming Interface (API) integration platform aimed at revolutionizing service delivery and data verification processes for businesses across Nigeria.

Unveiled on Monday in Abuja, this innovative platform empowers selected private sector organizations, designated as “super agents,” to securely access and retrieve data from the CAC database. This move is designed to facilitate prompt and efficient services, particularly benefiting Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) by reducing bureaucratic hurdles and enhancing the ease of doing business in the country .

Speaking at the inauguration, Ngover Ihyembe-Nwankwo, Executive Director of Business Development at NIBSS, emphasized the significance of this partnership: “This collaboration marks a pivotal step towards a more transparent and efficient business environment in Nigeria. By integrating our systems, we’re not only streamlining access to essential business data but also reinforcing our commitment to data security and regulatory compliance.”

The API integration aligns with the Nigeria Data Protection Act (NDPA) 2023, ensuring that personally identifiable information, such as residential addresses, email addresses, and phone numbers, remains protected and is accessed only in compliance with regulatory standards .

Registrar-General of the CAC, Hussaini Magaji, highlighted the transformative impact of the initiative: “By partnering with technology-driven organizations like NIBSS, we’re bringing CAC services closer to our customers, enabling them to access and utilize our services more efficiently and securely.”
